Daniel is a palomino Haflinger pony gelding who previously worked as a trail horse. He has one of the biggest personalities in the barn! Daniel will greet you with a cheerful neigh as you walk in and is always eager to participate—especially when games are involved during lessons.

Harper is a grey Quarter Horse mare whose previous career was as a pleasure horse. Her owner felt she would be a wonderful fit for our program, and they were right. Harper comes with a bit of sass, but she is an excellent teacher for riders learning to trot and canter. She helps riders build confidence while keeping lessons engaging and fun.

Shadow is a paint gelding whose coloring may deceive you at first glance. While he may appear black, he is in fact a Paint Horse. Shadow is the oldest horse in the barn and brings with him many years of experience as a trusted lesson horse. Now semi-retired, he only carries our smallest riders and continues to share his calm wisdom with the next generation.

Alfredo is a red roan Tennessee Walking Horse who was previously a trail horse and beloved pasture pet. He has the best ground manners in the barn and is known for his quiet, gentle nature. Alfredo still loves trail rides and is a favorite for his calm demeanor.

Little Bob is a Belgian/draft cross gelding and a former Amish work horse. He is truly a gentle giant—slow, steady, and incredibly kind. Little Bob is an excellent mount for our nervous beginners. Don’t let his size fool you; he is as sweet as they come.

Savannah is a black Percheron/Friesian mare and the clear head of the herd. She keeps a watchful eye on the other horses to make sure everyone stays in line. Savannah is a rescue horse who continues to learn how to best serve her friends at the barn, and she takes her role very seriously.

Waylon is a dun Quarter Horse gelding with a truly unique background. Before coming to High Lonesome, he worked as a prison guard horse in Texas. He brings exceptional patience, a steady mind, and a calm presence, making him a reliable and trusted partner for our riders.

Flower spent many years as a pasture companion before joining our team. She is a wonderful assistant for field trips and unmounted lessons and brings joy wherever she goes.

Cheyenne is the Unaka mascot! She grew up alongside our Junior Equine Manager, and together they learned horsemanship and understanding. Cheyenne helps with field trips, carries our tiniest riders (under 50 lbs), and makes special visits to nursing homes. She also attends festivals and special events outside the barn, spreading smiles wherever she goes.

Laney is a rescue from Tennessee who arrived very fearful of humans and touch. Through patience and care, she has blossomed into a mini who now seeks out love and attention. She assists with field trips and ground lessons.
